Preschool Division

Faculty and Staff
  • are approachable, accommodating, and responsive, attributes which reveal their genuine fondness of children;
  • closely supervise children in the classroom and play areas;
  • demonstrate respect for children’s intelligence, their potential abilities and how they perceive the world, encourage self-reliance, independence, and decision-making skills;
  • appreciate unique personalities and patiently respond to individual temperaments;
  • accept children’s diversity which are taken into consideration in daily activities, such as music, story time, art and crafts, and even in meal service;
  • give age-appropriate choices to develop responsibility and respect for one another;
  • provide positive guidance and discipline by giving clear consistent expectations and consequences guided by compassion, ethics, self-esteem, and competence.
Daily Activity Schedule
  • is followed and posted for parents’ review;
  • provides the opportunity for the development and mastery of all basic learning skills and competencies, not mere day-care play-time;
  • includes a hands-on computer skills development program;
  • balances academic routines with co-curricular activities such as music, story time, and outdoor play that give children a sense of security and predictability;
School Atmosphere
  • Classrooms and other facilities are clean, neat, and organized.
  • Each classroom displays children’s creative work for encouragement and to develop pride in accomplishment.
  • Pleasant chatter; children are never scared into complete silence.
  • Children are always supervised; are never left alone.
  • There are spaces for children to play in groups as well as alone in quiet, private play.
  • Items such as plants, aquariums and skid-proof rugs are used to create a homey feel.
Parent - Staff Relationship
  • Staff recognizes parents as children’s first and most important teachers.
  • Parents and staff communicate about child’s experiences and needs.
  • Parents are encouraged to share activity ideas, attend field trips and share special skills.
  • Parents are offered a formal parent conference at least once a trimester, and upon request.
