At LRMS High, the students are achievers because the teachers are achievers! of course, they do not simply rest on
their laurels. They continuously and continually improve their craft the various faculty development programs offered
by the division...
Teacher Induction Program for Success /TIPS (Mentoring Program for Beginning Teachers)
As an induction strategy for new teacher’s, mentoring or the pairing of an experienced teacher with a beginning teacher
is done in order to provide the latter with support and encouragement. New-to-the-school teachers (the “mentees”) are
involved in this program which is done for one school year. Within the year they are expected to work very closely with the
induction team and with their teacher-mentors.
Teacher Supervisory System
The High School Supervisory Program is designed to cater to teachers who operate at differing levels of thought, ability, and effectiveness. All probationary teachers undergo a common supervisory system which is guided to help them adapt and adjust to the new environment. All tenured teachers, however, go through an individualized approach to instructional supervision. In both systems, the ultimate goal is to help teachers make better decisions about instruction which will hopefully make them more empowered teachers.
Monthly Instructional Resources
Every year, a particular skill is targeted for improvement. Monthly modules are received by teachers for them to study, answer and hopefully, learn from. Topics dwell mostly on improving speech skills and English grammar.
Monthly Basic Catechism
In line with the school’s mission for its stakeholders to be instruments of evangelization, teachers receive catechetical instruction from the Christian Living teachers before the start of their monthly faculty meeting.
Daily Lesson Planning
While in some schools, the writing of the daily lesson plans is slowly being phased out either by simplifying its format or producing prototype plans, in LRMS the writing of the daily lesson plan is a requirement. Being so, a teacher who has stayed
for one year in this school will already have earned the craft of developing well-thought out plans. A well-written plan will almost always result to well-delivered lessons.
Demonstration Teaching Festival (Demofest)
This is an annual activity where selected teachers are invited to present something novel or innovative when it comes to the use of teaching strategies and techniques. Every year, a particular focus or objective which cuts across various subject areas is determined. This is one of the most-looked-forward-to activities by teachers.
Continuous Education thru Graduate studies and Seminars
Cognizant of the need to regularly update and upgrade their teaching skills, many teachers particularly the tenured ones are pursuing higher studies. Every so often, they are also sent to seminar-workshops. Upon their return, they are expected to share their learnings to their colleagues.
